Master's degree in Design & Innovation producing graduates who can perform and manage development in industry, service companies and organizations. Design and innovation requires analytical, creative and synthesis-oriented skills to the creation of technological and social components when developing products, systems and services. An essential prerequisite for this work is thorough experience on socio-technical studies and analysis, focusing on the interaction between user, technology and context. The success of the product depends on a balanced confrontation of complex decisions against engineering models and optimizations. The specialization places great emphasis on developing the personal skills, the creative potential, commitment, academic overview and method knowhow along with active staging of the development arena.
Design & Innovation is characterized by heterogeneous engineering competences that combine:
- A socio-technical understanding of products in their social and technical context,
- A creative synthesis-competence in both social, technical and aesthetic aspects as well as
- A reflected technical-scientific competence that makes the candidate eligible to participate in the technical development.
The students are required have basic experience with creative and systematic team-based development work. The student should understand and be able to use socio-technical theory and have knowledge and construction experience in one or more technical-scientific fields such as mechatronics, materials, environment, or IT.
