As a design engineer you will be a technical, organizational and socially-oriented innovator and prime mover of the technological developments in society and industry.
The design & innovation education embraces a combination of technical scientific and social scientific courses and competences. Emphasis is put on the creative synthesis of technological and social aspects of the development of products and systems.
The fundamental elements of the programme are made up of:
a reflected technological-scientific competence emphasizing the skills of math, physics, mechanics, strength and materials. This constitute the scientific and technical foundation needed by all graduate engineers,
a creative, critical synthesis oriented competence for developing products, systems and services, and
an innovative socio-technical competence, emphasizing the ability to incorporate or take into account the social and organizational dimensions, political conditions, environment etc. as well as the ability to plan and lead design processes in a broad sense.
Designing is a constructive process which requires creativity and innovative ability:
A design engineer must be able to develop ideas with simultaneous consideration to production-, distribution- and service conditions as well as to the environment, operation, use value and aesthetics. All these requirements should be considered so as to give benefit to users, producers as well as the society in general.
